Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to have a particular level of cooking skill to attend? This is a fun, recreational cooking class for all skill levels. We do our very best to engage all of our guests according to their comfort level in a relaxed atmosphere.

Do you accommodate food allergies or specific dietary restrictions? We take your health and preferences seriously, and will always do our best to modify the class menu accordingly. Simply make a note when booking or contact us directly with requests. In the event a specific menu may not be compatible, we will be happy to offer a substitution.

Are recipes provided? Absolutely. All guests will leave with a printed copy of the recipes. The only exceptions are certain classes, such as our Farmer’s Market Tour, which do not have a prescribed menu or recipes.

Where do we meet for the class? We will meet in 700 Drayton Restaurant, adjacent to the Mansion on Forsyth at 700 Drayton St Savannah, GA 31401. We will walk up to 700 Kitchen Cooking School as a group.

What time should I arrive for class? We recommend arriving a few minutes early or consider arriving early for a drink in the hotel lobby. Our instructor will meet you in the restaurant and accompany you into the cooking school.

Should I eat prior to attending my class? Most of our culinary classes do include a full, substantial meal. In most 3-hour classes, there will be approximately 1.5-2 hours of prep time until the meal is ready to serve. We do provide snacks such as freshly baked bread during class.

Do you serve alcohol during class? We serve limited wine to guests 21 years of age and over in accordance with local liquor laws. Guests are also invited to purchase beverages of choice from our restaurant bar.

Can I bring my own wine? Yes. Wines are subject to a corkage fee. We also have an exceptional wine list in our restaurant.

Are pictures and videos allowed? Yes. Please feel free to take photos and videos of your experience. You are welcome to share on social media tagging @mansiononforsythpark.

What is the cancellation policy? You may reschedule a class to a different date or cancel a class for any reason for a full refund (except within 72 hours of the scheduled class). We are unable to offer refunds or reschedules within 3 days. If you are unable to attend, you are welcome to send someone else in your place, but please notify us so we can make a note on class roster.

Do I need to bring any supplies, tools, aprons, etc.? No. We provide all food and materials for the class including sharpened knives, cookware and aprons.

What should I wear to class? Dress comfortably. We ask that you wear close-toed shoes with no or a very low heal for safety reasons. Also please be mindful of flowing sleeves and clothing that could otherwise impede safe cooking practices, including cooking on a gas stove or char broiler.

Can I sit with my friend/spouse? If you registered together, we will make every effort to have you grouped together. If booking separately, simply make a note or respond back when we send out a reminder.

Is it customary to tip the staff? Gratuity is not a requirement or expectation and will not be solicited. Tipping should be regarded as completely optional.

Are children allowed to attend? Generally speaking, our evening classes are designed for adults. However, children 12 and older are permitted to attend with their parent or guardian. Daytime classes such as ‘Farmer’s Market Tour’ are more ideal for families. Please see our Junior Chefs page for more information on kid-friendly classes.
